Members of the Azerbaijani U-17 freestyle wrestling national team, who achieved great success at the European Championship held in Samokov, Bulgaria, have shared their impressions.
According to Offsideplus.az, speaking to the press service of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, our gold medalists expressed their feelings of victory and outlined their future goals:
Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg): "I became the champion by defeating wrestlers from Georgia, Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine. My toughest opponent was from Russia. I would like to thank my coaches and my family who contributed to this journey. I dedicate my victory to our martyrs and veterans. Hopefully, I will repeat this result at the upcoming World Championship in Baku."
Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg): "I am very glad to mark my debut in the U-17 age category with a championship. I am deeply grateful to my personal coach Rauf Khalilov, my family, and the national team coaches. My main rival at the World Championship will be an American wrestler."
Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg): "Despite injuries and the nerves of the final match, I fought until the very end. I defeated the Turkish athlete 10-0 in the final and made our flag fly high. Now, I want to prepare even better and claim the gold medal at the World Championship in Baku. I think our main rivals there will be representatives from Iran and the USA."
It is worth noting that the U-17 national team, led by senior coach Asgarkhan Novruzov, finished the European Championship in second place in the team standings. Our team's tally includes 3 gold (Huseyn Rzazade, Ibrahim Hasanov, Nihad Suleymanli), 1 silver (Rashid Nazarov), and 3 bronze (Tunar Hasanov, Abbas Shafiyev, Hakim Taghiyev) medals.
