Neftchi's head coach Yuri Vernidub addressed journalists after the team's victory over Sumgait in the opening round of the Misli Premier League.

According to Offsideplus.az, the Ukrainian specialist evaluated the team's performance and transfer plans.

Vernidub expressed satisfaction with starting the season with an away win and the players' performances. He noted that the team could have scored more goals, but they were unable to fully capitalise on the opportunities created.

The head coach emphasised that there were few dangerous moments from Sumgait and assessed the opponent's goal as one they should not have conceded.

In response to a question about the transfer of Qutsulyak, Vernidub stated that he had no specific information on the matter. He characterised the Ukrainian player as a high-level winger and mentioned that he would not oppose his transfer if he wished to play for Neftchi.

Regarding reports of an offer from Sheriff, the coach said it was the first time he had heard such information. Vernidub confirmed that he has a contract with Neftchi and is satisfied with his work at the club.

"Even if a big offer comes in, I won't leave. I'm not someone who chases after money. My work and contract are more important to me. My current earnings satisfy me," Vernidub stated.

The head coach also clarified that Kenan Piriç has not left the team but is currently unavailable due to injury.

Vernidub added that Neftchi continues to work on strengthening the squad. The club's main goal is to attract players who align with the team's playing philosophy and strive for success through their own efforts.
