The first day of action has concluded at the U-20 World Championship in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

Offsideplus.az reports that Greco-Roman wrestler Javidan Nehmatov (77 kg) reached the semi-finals after defeating his Greek (8:0), Kyrgyz (9:0), and Kazakh (7:5) opponents in succession. The Azerbaijani athlete secured his spot in the final with a 7–1 victory over Iran's Amir Mehdi Nava.

He will face Samvel Terteryan of Armenia for the gold medal.

Among other representatives, Tural Ahmadov (63 kg) fell short in the quarter-finals against his Uzbek opponent (2–3), but will compete in the repechage as his opponent advanced to the final. Meanwhile, Orkhan Hajiyev (87 kg) and Mikayil Ismayilov (130 kg) were eliminated after losing their hard-fought opening matches.
