The U17 European Wrestling Championship, hosted in Samokov, Bulgaria, has come to a close.

Offsideplus.az reports, citing the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, that the national freestyle wrestling team delivered a successful performance, capturing 3 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Accumulating 156 points in the final standings, the squad celebrated a second-place finish in the team rankings, finishing just 7 points behind the champions, Russia.

The Georgian team completed the top three with 124 points.

The team, led by head coach Asgarkhan Novruzov alongside coaches Vahid Mammadov, Yashar Aliyev, and Allahverdi Valiyev, saw Huseyn Rzazada (48 kg), Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg), and Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg) defeat all their opponents to become European champions. Meanwhile, Rashid Nazarov (65 kg) concluded the tournament with a silver medal, while Tunar Hasanov (45 kg), Abbas Shafiyev (55 kg), and Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) claimed bronze medals.
