The freestyle wrestling competition in the “Muhamet Malo” tournament held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, has come to an end.
Offsideplus.az reports that Rashid Babazadeh, who won a silver medal in the competition, commented on his performance as follows:
“It was my first time participating in a rating tournament. I don’t have much experience among adults. But despite this, I came to this competition with confidence. The competition was very strong. The strongest wrestlers in the world participated in this tournament. I faced Vitali Orujov, an American of Azerbaijani origin, who was in my group, in the semifinals. I won with a score of 18:15. I performed the trick a few seconds before the end. My opponent in the final was a very strong athlete. Despite this, I went out on the mat with confidence. But for certain reasons, I could not show my wrestling. Due to both my rib injury and my lack of sufficient experience, I could not achieve the desired result in the match. Hopefully, I need to work on these mistakes so that I am fully prepared for the upcoming European Championship.”
It should be noted that our national team won 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in the ranking tournament.
