Azerbaijan's national wrestling teams have commenced their first training camps of 2026.

According to Offsideplus.az, citing the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, the national squads were finalized following the Azerbaijan Championships held from January 7–11, marking the start of the preparation phase.

The Greco-Roman national team began its training camp at the Goygol Olympic Sports Complex on January 14, while the freestyle wrestling national team joined on January 18. The Greco-Roman wrestlers will continue their preparations in Goygol until January 25, and the freestyle wrestlers until January 31. This phase is primarily focused on enhancing physical conditioning, though tactical and technical drills are also included in the program.

Meanwhile, the women’s national team gathered today in Baku. Their training camp, held at the Wrestling Federation’s specialized facility for women’s wrestling, is set to conclude on February 3.

It should be noted that participation in international competitions is scheduled for next month. The season will kick off for the women’s team with the year's first ranking tournament, the Zagreb Open (February 4–8). The men’s teams will make their season debut at the next ranking tournament—the Muhamet Malo Memorial in Tirana (February 25 – March 1).
