"The game started somewhat unexpectedly for us."
These words were spoken by Sevinc Jafarzade, captain of the Azerbaijan women's national team, in a statement to Offsideplus.az.
She commented on the national team's 3-1 away victory over Andorra in the World Cup qualifiers: "Despite conceding an early goal, we managed to equalize just two minutes later. This played a major role in keeping our psychological state stable. Afterward, we completed the comeback and secured a 3-1 win.
We had never faced this opponent before, so we didn't know them closely. However, our coaches provided us with the necessary information and a detailed analysis of the rival. We entered the match with the goal of earning 3 points, and there was a certain level of excitement felt."
Jafarzade emphasized the importance of the away win against Andorra: "The main thing is that we secured a vital victory. We have three more matches left in the group stage, and we will strive to collect maximum points."
The captain also expressed confidence in winning the return fixture: "In three days, we will face Andorra again in Baku, in front of our home fans. Our target is once again 3 points. Another victory will further improve our position in the group. I hope and believe we are strong enough to achieve this. We all realize how important these matches are. Our goal is to represent our country in the best possible way and make those who support us proud."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan national team will face Andorra on April 18 at the Bank Respublika Arena.
