The World Fencing Championships in Hong Kong have concluded.

Offsideplus.az reports citing the Azerbaijan Fencing Federation that the women's sabre national team—comprising Anna Bashta, Palina Kaspiarovich, Sabina Karimova, and Zarifa Huseynova—finished 13th in the team competition.

After defeating Canada 45-34 in their opening match, our female fencers fell 32-45 to the reigning world champions, Hungary, in the Round of 16.

Moving to the 9th–16th classification bracket, the team suffered a 34-45 loss to Poland. However, back-to-back victories over Hong Kong (45-40) and Bulgaria (45-36) secured 13th place overall among 28 competing nations.

Meanwhile, the men's sabre team—featuring Murad Akbarov, Saleh Mammadov, Magsud Huseynli, and Abbas Huseynov—finished in 30th place.

Our male fencers opened with a 45-39 victory over Kuwait, but were subsequently stopped by Hungary with a 27-45 defeat in the Round of 32.
