The number of countries and athletes registered for the III CIS Games to be held in Azerbaijan has increased.

Offsideplus.az reports that 1,619 athletes and 2,313 representatives from 12 countries will participate in the competition.

Although 10 countries were previously expected to participate, Pakistan and Oman were later added to this list.

It has been confirmed that 340 athletes will represent Azerbaijan, 4 from Pakistan, 262 from Russia, 254 from Uzbekistan, 240 from Belarus, 147 from Kazakhstan, 144 from Tajikistan, 126 from Kyrgyzstan, 48 from Turkmenistan, 38 from Turkey, 6 from Kuwait, and 4 from Oman.

Competitions will be held in 12 venues in 23 sports (archery, badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, canoeing, sculls, fencing, football U-16, Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, karate, rhythmic gymnastics, rowing, sambo, shot put, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, trampoline gymnastics, volleyball, women's wrestling, freestyle wrestling).

It should be noted that the III CIS Games will be held from September 28 to October 8 this year in seven cities of Azerbaijan - Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol and Khankendi. The opening ceremony of the competition will take place on September 28, and the closing ceremony will be held on October 8 at the Ganja city stadium.
