Azerbaijan Professional Football League (PFL) has been admitted as an official member of the World Leagues Association (WLA), which unites around 50 professional leagues and 1,100 clubs globally.
Offsideplus.az reports that an online meeting was held between WLA General Secretary Jerome Perlemuter and PFL President Elkhan Samadov to mark the occasion.
During the meeting, Jerome Perlemuter highly praised PFL's activities in governance and long-term development, emphasizing the importance of this cooperation for sharing best practices. Elkhan Samadov stated that joining this global network will greatly contribute to the modernization of Azerbaijani football both on and off the pitch.
It is worth noting that among post-Soviet countries, only Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Latvia had previously been admitted to this international body, which includes the "Big Five" leagues. PFL President Elkhan Samadov has been invited to the WLA General Assembly, which will take place in Prague this November.
