Competing in the -81 kg weight category, Aykhan Hasanli defeated opponents from Costa Rica, Kuwait, Colombia, Armenia, and Japan on his way to the final. However, our judoka was defeated by Russia's Daniyal Biybolatov in the deciding bout, capturing the silver medal at the World Championships.
It is worth noting that earlier, Farid Rzazade defeated all his rivals in the -50 kg division to become world champion.
