Elchin Masiyev served as the fourth official in the UEFA Super Cup match between PSG and Tottenham yesterday.

Offsideplus.az reports that the Chairman of the AFFA Referees Committee, Frank De Blacker, shared his thoughts on E. Masiyev's appointment. He said in a statement to the organization's website:

"The appointment of Elchin Masiyev as the fourth referee for the UEFA Super Cup match is very good in terms of the development of Azerbaijani refereeing. It also shows that we are working in the right direction with our referees. Let's not forget that we were previously represented by two head referees and two assistant referees in the final stages of the UEFA U-17 and U-21 European Championships - Kamal Umudlu and Elchin Masiyev took part in these games. The appointment for the UEFA Super Cup match between PSG and Tottenham on August 13 in Udine once again proves that the only right way is for us to work in accordance with UEFA's instructions in our domestic competitions. We are able to work in harmony and consistently with UEFA. It is a great honor for AFFA to be represented at the highest level of European football. This appointment will have a positive impact on Azerbaijani refereeing and I hope that new young men and women will want to start a refereeing career. Because we need more referees at all levels."
