"I was very well-prepared for the competition."

Azerbaijani MMA fighter Ali Guliyev shared these words in a statement to Offsideplus.az. The 27-year-old athlete reflected on his recent victory at the "Fight Club Rush" tournament held in Vasteras, Sweden:

"I had been preparing specifically for this fight for 4–5 months. Most recently, I completed a six-week training camp in Sweden. My opponent was tough—in his last bout, he went three rounds with the champion at Aris. No one had ever managed to knock him out in the first round before. He was physically very strong; no matter how many shots I landed to his head, he wouldn't go down."

Guliyev also emphasized his ambition to compete in the UFC:

"I am waiting for new updates. I really want to fight at the UFC event in Baku. Work is currently underway in this direction, and my managers are in negotiations. If everything goes as planned, I will be in Baku in June."

It is worth noting that the athlete, who competes in the 66 kg weight category, defeated his Brazilian opponent, Fabricio Nunes.
