Azerbaijan's U17 Greco-Roman wrestling team is diligently continuing its preparations for the World Championship, which will be held in Baku from July 27 to August 2.
According to Offsideplus.az, the head coach of the team, world and European champion Rafiq Huseynov, assessed the current state of the team as very encouraging:
"We started our preparations in Shamakhi after the national championship. Then we held a training camp in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, where we formed the squad for the 'Victory Cup' held in Turkey. The athletes who excelled in that competition earned the chance to represent our country at the European Championship. Following the continental championship, we are now in our third training camp."
Ten training camps will be held before the World Championship.
The experienced coach emphasised that the final preparation phase is aimed at getting the athletes into optimal shape:
"Our team is fully at an optimal preparation level. Although we have some minor injuries, they do not pose serious obstacles. We will have a total of 10 training camps before the World Championship. All these preparation processes have been organised at the highest level by the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation. We express our gratitude for the maximum support provided to us."
