Yuriy Vernydub, the head coach of Neftchi PFK, gave an interview to the club's official website.
The Ukrainian specialist shared his evaluation of the training camp:
"I really liked the training camp; it was organized at a very high level. For this, I would like to express my special gratitude to our management. They did everything possible to create comfortable conditions for our team's training and development. I also want to thank the players for their efforts during the camp. I am grateful to them for meeting our demands and handling the workloads, working hard, maintaining the tempo, and showing improvement. We are satisfied and pleased with the results. Furthermore, I am happy that we have no serious injuries in the squad. While some players have minor knocks, we will address them shortly and achieve positive results. The only point of disappointment is Ortiz missing training due to a fever, but I believe his condition will normalize in a day or two. Overall, I am very satisfied with the camp.
I don’t want to single out anyone specifically because everyone trained properly and well. The reason I refrain from highlighting individuals is that we are one big family. We are proud of the atmosphere currently within the team. The only player I would like to mention is Murad Mammadov. If he continues like this, a very bright future awaits him. I also want to thank Nihad Aliyev and Mahammad Mammadli, who joined us from Neftchi-2. I am grateful to them for their hard work and for helping us during the training process. Although they didn't get much playing time, we will continue to monitor their progress and involve them in future training sessions. Everything is just beginning. We have a week of preparation ahead of us for a very serious opponent like Zira. Zira is a very good team. We have a lot of analysis to do, and we will prepare for this match accordingly.
Currently, I don’t see a serious need to change anything. We have enough players in the squad, everyone is motivated and working hard, which satisfies me. However, if an interesting player worthy of Neftchi's level becomes available and expresses a desire to join us, we will certainly consider that option. Honestly, it's a difficult topic to discuss because every coach wants to strengthen their squad. But currently, we have our players, and both they and we are ready to fulfill the tasks set before us and improve the current situation.
We will see; it's difficult to say anything concrete right now. We still have a week of preparation ahead in Baku. The only difference is the weather in Baku. It’s +25°C here, while Baku is expected to be +5°C or +6°C with strong winds. But there’s nothing to be afraid of. We have prepared and trained here, and I don’t think this will pose a major difficulty for us. Right now, that is not the most important point. We must be not 100%, but 150% ready for the final 17 rounds of the championship."
