“I Miss the Premier League”
Former Azerbaijan national team footballer and current Sheki City player Javid Imamverdiyev said this in a statement to Offsideplus.az.
The 35-year-old midfielder, who has scored 65 goals in the Second League to become the top scorer, admitted that the outcome surprised him:
“If I receive an offer from the Premier League today, I would gladly return and play. However, it’s a difficult matter. If it does happen, I would only need one month of good pre-season training to fully regain the form I want. At the moment, I’m in such a condition that I would join any Premier League club. Although the level of the Second League is very low, I don’t feel bored playing here.”
Imamverdiyev also spoke about the reasons behind his departure from the Premier League:
“During my time at Kapaz, I grew tired of football. Later, due to psychological problems, I quit the sport altogether. I didn’t play for about a year and focused only on coaching. Then I gained weight. When I returned, I started playing for Kur-Araz. Now I’ve lost weight and continue to do so.”
