Interview with Ruslan Voronsov, one of the top scorers of the First League, for Offsideplus.az.

— Your goal against Mingachevir sparked a lot of interest. Was that a move you practiced in training, or a spontaneous reaction to the situation?

— About two days before the game, I scored a similar goal in training. However, the episode during the match was a total split-second reflex. To be honest, it was impossible to hit the ball any other way in that specific situation.

— You have parted ways with Shahdag-Qusar. How would you evaluate your performance at your former club?

— I wouldn’t say it went badly. It just could have been better. It’s not always possible to perform consistently in every single game, so that's how it turned out.

— It is rumored that you will continue your career at Sabail. Is this information correct?

— Yes, I have already reached an agreement with Sabail. I will do my best for the club's success.

— What was the reason for your departure?

— The main reason for leaving Shahdag is my desire to play in the Premier League. I believe that if we can help Sabail return to the Premier League, it will be a great opportunity for me as well. Whatever is meant to be, will be. We will strive to do more than our best.

— Did you choose Sabail specifically because of the salary they offered?

— Sabail is a club that recently dropped from the Premier League, and they provide all the necessary conditions for a footballer. To be honest, there were other clubs offering the same salary. But for me, the most important thing is to be happy. A player develops better where they are happy.

— How would you assess the current state of the First League? Do you think there is enough competition?

— There is very intense competition in the league right now, which is encouraging. Competition is vital for the development of football.

— Some believe you are a player capable of playing in the Premier League. What are your thoughts on this?

— I am not an inferior player to those playing in the Premier League. And it’s not just about me. There are countless players in the First League who are all worthy of the Premier League.

— You are now 30 years old. Why haven't we seen you in the Premier League until now?

— Honestly, I’m curious about that too. I don’t know—I guess you should ask the coaches that question: let's see what was missing? (laughs)
