Erhan Toker, head coach of the Azerbaijan U-18 national team, evaluated his team's performance in the European Championship in an interview with Offsideplus.az:

"We managed to secure our place in the B Division. Compared to last year, when the U-18 team won only one match in the B Division, this year we ensured our survival in the league by winning two matches in the group.

In our first match for places 9-16, we lost to Montenegro in extra time. If we had won that game, everything would have been much better. Our players had limited match experience. There were only about 5-6 experienced players in the team. Since the main burden fell on those players during the tournament, we lost the next two matches after the game against Montenegro due to fatigue, finishing the tournament in 16th place.

It was very important for us to stay in the B Division. This is the second time we have competed in this division, and so far, our best result has been this 16th place. Admittedly, 16th place is not a high position, but considering the development pace of Azerbaijani basketball, we have moved up from the C Division to the B Division. This is a better result than a year ago. I hope that next year our U-18 team will secure a higher position.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to the players, coaching staff, and everyone who contributed. Everyone did their best. We tried to represent Azerbaijan with dignity."

It is worth noting that the Azerbaijan U-18 national basketball team finished the recently concluded European Championship in the B Division in 16th place.
