Azerbaijani national team forward Nariman Akhundzade has been playing for MLS side Columbus Crew since last winter.

The match that fans had been eagerly anticipating since the 22-year-old’s move across the Atlantic was the clash against Inter Miami on August 2. Although the young striker was expected to face Lionel Messi, he was left out of the squad.

Speaking to Offsideplus.az, his agent explained the reason behind his absence:

"Nəriman may part ways with the club before the transfer window closes. That is why his name was not included in the matchday squad. Further details will be disclosed in the coming days."

It is worth noting that Akhundzade's market value is currently estimated at €2 million on Transfermarkt.
