Azerbaijani judokas finished the first day of the Grand Slam tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan, without any medals.

Offsideplus.az reports that Shafag Hamidova (48 kg) and Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (52 kg) were the last to fall, losing their respective bronze medal matches. Hamidova was defeated by Kristina Dudina (Russia), while Mammadaliyeva lost to Nandin-Erdene Myagmarsuren (Mongolia).

Other members of the squad, including Rashad Yelkiyev, Turan Bayramov (both 66 kg), Konul Aliyeva (48 kg), and Leyla Aliyeva (52 kg), lost in earlier rounds, missing out on the chance to compete for podium spots.

The tournament is set to conclude on May 10.
