President of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, Mikayil Jabbarov, has congratulated the Azerbaijani wrestlers who achieved outstanding results at the European Championships held in Bratislava, Slovakia.

As reported by Offsideplus.az, the federation head shared a message of congratulations on the federation’s official Facebook page:

“At the European Championships held in Slovakia, both our freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling national teams were crowned European champions. Our wrestlers secured a total of 4 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze medals in the competition."

He highlighted that the freestyle wrestling team became European team champions for the fifth time. Notable individual results include:

  • Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) – Gold

  • Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) – Silver

  • Islam Bazarganov (57 kg), Ali Rahimzada (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), and Aghanazar Novruzov (74 kg) – Bronze

In women’s wrestling, Jale Aliyeva (57 kg) showed exceptional determination and resilience despite injuries, earning a bronze medal and becoming third in Europe.

The Greco-Roman wrestling team claimed the European team title for the second time. Medal winners include:

  • Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), and Qurban Qurbanov (82 kg) – Gold

  • Eldaniz Azizli (55 kg) – Silver

  • Ulvi Ganizade (72 kg) and Islam Abbasov (87 kg) – Bronz

    “The professionalism and strong will demonstrated by our athletes once again proves that Azerbaijani wrestling has what it takes to shine on the world’s biggest stages,” Jabbarov noted.

“We extend our congratulations to our wrestlers, their families, coaches, and all Federation representatives!”
