Qarabag's footballer Abdullah Zubir scored a goal against Vestri in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, marking a significant moment in the history of Azerbaijani football.
According to Offsideplus.az, the experienced player’s goal in the match against the Icelandic side was the 300th goal for Azerbaijani clubs in this prestigious tournament.
Previously, Azerbaijani representatives had scored 298 goals in 283 matches played in the UEFA Cup, now known as the Europa League. Following Qarabag's impressive 3-0 victory over their opponent, this figure has now risen to 301.
It is noteworthy that Azerbaijani teams have been competing in European competitions since the 1995/1996 season, with the first goal in this tournament dating back to August 22, 1995, during a match between Austria (Vienna, Austria) and Kəpəz, where former national team member Yadigar Suleymanov was the author of our first goal.
