Azerbaijan national team player Coshgun Diniyev’s club, Çorum FK from Turkey, has experienced another head coach resignation.

According to Offsideplus.az, Tuncay Şanlı, who had been managing the club in the Turkish First League (TFF 1. Lig), has stepped down. He announced his resignation following a 0–1 defeat against Ankaragücü yesterday.

Tuncay Şanlı, a former football star renowned for his performances with the Turkish national team and Fenerbahçe, had only been in charge of Çorum FK for 50 days. Appointed on March 7, he led the team in eight matches, recording 3 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses. After suffering two consecutive defeats and seeing the team’s chances of promotion to the Turkish Süper Lig drop significantly, he decided to resign.

Currently, Çorum FK sits 13th in the standings with 51 points. With just two rounds remaining in the league, their chances of reaching the playoffs by finishing in the top seven are almost nonexistent.

It is worth noting that Coshgun Diniyev joined Çorum FK in February of this year and has scored 2 goals in 10 matches for his new club.

As for Tuncay Şanlı, his coaching career has so far been far from successful. Prior to Çorum FK, he had also failed to achieve notable results with Sakaryaspor and Ümraniyespor.

Despite his struggles as a coach, Tuncay Şanlı remains a beloved figure among fans for his playing career. During his time at Fenerbahçe (2002–2007), he scored 59 goals in 154 appearances. For the Turkish national team, he earned 80 caps and netted 22 goals, helping the side win bronze medals at the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2008 UEFA European Championship.
