According to Offsideplus.az, the reason for the failure of the tournament, which will be attended by the Azerbaijani national team, was the coronavirus pandemic.
The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) has organized a number of meetings and conferences in the form of video conferencing due to the global epidemic. The organization announced its decision after holding several video conferences on the qualifying matches for the EC-2021, which is scheduled for January 2021. Taking into account all the proposals, CEV allowed some teams to meet in January next year, some in May.
According to the decision, the matches of the Azerbaijani national team, which will face Montenegro, Georgia and Greece in Group F, were postponed from January to May 2021. Matches should be held on 2-16 of that month. As before, the rounds will be hosted by Montenegro and Georgia.
