The match between Qarabag and Sabah (2-2) in the Azerbaijan Cup semi-finals has made history with a record-breaking number of spectators.
Offsideplus.az reports that 21,000 fans watched the encounter at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium.
This figure is the highest recorded since the 2015/2016 season final (23,000 spectators). Regardless of the tournament stage, it stands as the highest attendance in the last 19 years (since the 2006/2007 season) for matches hosted directly by a single club.
The previous season record of 10,361 fans, set during a match between these same two teams on March 1, was more than doubled. In the list of tournaments organized by the PFL since 2008, this match now ranks 5th overall and 1st among non-final matches.
The previous record for a domestic home game was held by the Kapaz vs. Qarabag match in Ganja in 2016, which drew 20,400 spectators.
