The U-17 World Wrestling Championship is ongoing in Baku.
According to Offsideplus.az, on the fourth day of the tournament held at the National Gymnastics Arena, five members of the women's wrestling team have reached the quarter-finals.
Gulxanım Shirinova (40 kg) joined the competition in the quarter-finals. Our representative was defeated by Tunisian Tasmin Athimni by "tush". Since her opponent advanced to the final, Shirinova will compete in the consolation match tomorrow.
Nuray Jafarli (46 kg) also started her competition in the quarter-finals. Although our compatriot took a significant lead against Hungarian Vivyen Sentpal, she could not maintain her advantage until the end, losing 8-10.
Fatimə Bayramova (53 kg) won against Israeli Sela Rozov and Moldovan Ruslana Karapetianta with a score of 11-0, but was defeated by American Marli Solomon by "tush" in the quarter-finals. Since her opponent advanced to the final, our wrestler will also compete in the consolation match tomorrow.
Fidan Babayeva (61 kg) lost to Kazakh Arujan Bakitnur in the round of 16 (2-11), while Simurə Abdullayeva (69 kg) was defeated by Kyrgyz Milana Ulanova in the same stage (6-10).
