Today, the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF) hosted the first meeting of the Committee on Heritage and Wrestling Community Engagement.
Offsideplus.az reports that organizational matters regarding the committee's activities were reviewed during the meeting, which was chaired by AWF General Secretary Parvin Piriyev. Following the discussions, Elchin Jafarov, an Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports, was elected Chairman of the Committee, while Aydan Mammadhasanova, the Deputy General Secretary of the AWF, was appointed Secretary.
The Committee also includes Elfaq Safarov, a specialist from the federation's delegation department; Yaqub Mammadov, a sports department specialist; Vahid Mammadov, an Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports; and Arif Abdullayev, a coach of the national freestyle wrestling team.
During the meeting, the Committee's work plan was discussed and approved. The plan entails developing criteria to define the status of wrestling veterans, increasing attention and care toward them, and implementing initiatives to preserve wrestling heritage and pass it on to future generations.
In addition, various proposals regarding the future activities of the Committee were put forward, and views were exchanged on their implementation. Involving representatives of the wrestling community in this process and further strengthening the ties between the federation and veterans were highlighted as key priorities.
