On September 4, the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku triathlon event featured the IRONKIDS and Fun Run competitions.
According to Offsideplus.az, the events aimed to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle, attracting children from various age groups, amateur athletes, and their families.
Participants in the IRONKIDS race competed in categories for ages 5-8, 9-13, and 14-17, racing distances of 500 metres, 1 kilometre, and 2 kilometres.
In the Fun Run, participants covered a distance of 5 kilometres. The main goal of the race was to engage people of different ages and fitness levels in sports, promote a healthy lifestyle, and immerse them in the atmosphere of the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku.
In the men's Fun Run, Marius Holgersen crossed the finish line first to claim victory. Cavid Jafarov finished second, while Pavel Kinichev took third place. In the women's race, Tatyana Zakharchenkova came in first, with Gracy-Rouz Volters in second and Yaroslava Volkova in third.
At the end of the event, a ceremony was held to award the winners and participants.
The IRONKIDS and Fun Run events showcased that the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku is a large-scale sports event that brings together not only professional and experienced triathletes but also sports enthusiasts from various age and fitness levels.
It is worth noting that one of the most anticipated events of the weekend, the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku, took place on September 5. The competition featured 1,500 participants from 62 countries, including 123 representatives from Azerbaijan. Athletes tackled a course consisting of 1.9 kilometres of swimming, 90 kilometres of cycling, and a 21.1-kilometre run.
The races were organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Triathlon Federation, and the Baku City Circuit Operations Company.
