"Sabah" will host Borussia Dortmund in the third round of the Champions League.
According to Offsideplus.az, head coach Valdas Dambrauskas addressed journalists at a pre-match press conference, stating:
"Let me start by mentioning that the opponent has not scored in their last two matches. I think this is not necessarily good news for us, as they will be even more focused on attacking and finding ways to score. However, I believe in my team, our potential, and how we prepare for the game. What else can be said about Borussia? They are one of the biggest clubs in Germany and the world. Their style of play is based on teamwork and a unique identity. This team, led by an excellent coach, has leaders in every position. We expect an extremely difficult match. They pass the ball at a very high speed. I want to reiterate that every game in the Champions League teaches us lessons and helps us understand a lot about ourselves. I believe tomorrow's match will also help us gain a better understanding of ourselves."
Dambrauskas also discussed the likelihood of Xeyal Aliyev playing:
"We have more than 20 players available. Therefore, after tonight's training session, we will decide who will be included in the squad for tomorrow's game. We will know whether Xeyal will be on that list after that."
"We know that tomorrow's match will be challenging. This is a Champions League fixture. But as you know, we approach every game aiming for victory. We have come to Baku to play our football. We will play in front of our fans, supported by our families. Of course, we want to do our best and show our best game."
On the fans:
"Of course, having a full stadium is always pleasant for the players. The more fans there are, the more we welcome them. They can transmit their energy to us. I hope this support will reflect in both our performance and the result. However, I don't like to discuss the chances of victory. I am more interested in my team's performance. I believe that if we play well, fulfil our tasks, stick to the agreed plan, and especially focus on the small details during the crucial moments of the game, the result will take care of itself."
"We will try our best to score, but you should ask the opponent how much they will allow us to create!" (laughs)
