"The senior national team is our priority."
Offsideplus.az reports that Jahangir Farajullayev, General Secretary of AFFA, stated this during the organization's report conference.
J. Farajullayev provided information regarding the activities carried out during his one-year tenure:
"Positive changes have occurred following the restructuring. We saw the first sparks of these qualities during the 'FIFA Series' tournament. We have no intention of either exaggerating or downplaying this victory. I believe we have taken the initial steps here.
In February last year, decisions were made to increase the number of clubs and abolish the foreigner limit. Three regional clubs were promoted to the Premier League, which has generated significant interest among fans. It is no coincidence that the attendance record was broken during the Qarabag vs. Sabah match. A support program for new clubs was established, with this year's funding amounting to approximately 2 million AZN.
Another step was taken regarding refereeing. The structure was changed and entrusted to Frank De Bleeckere. Decisions related to refereeing were assigned to Rahim Hasanov. The 'sore spot' of our championship is the infrastructure problem. Only Karvan Yevlakh has returned to its own stadium. Kəpəz and Turan Tovuz will return starting from the new season. By the beginning of the new season, the Agsu stadium will be brought up to Premier League standards. The second project involves the 'Liv Bona Dea Arena,' and the third project concerns the Bayil stadium. AFFA will establish its first center at the Bayil complex. It will be closed for renovation in May and will be put into use for children and youth.
Children's and youth tournaments have become a major priority for AFFA. We have changed the format of many leagues, utilizing European models for the lower divisions. As a grassroots football project, we have reinstated the Schoolchildren's Cup. More than 30,000 young footballers across 68 regions have been involved.
Camera analysis will be implemented. The personal performance of every footballer will be analyzed and presented via data. Young players will be selected for youth national teams based on the analysis of digital indicators. Access to this data for European scouts looking for Azerbaijani footballers will be free of charge.
Difficult tests and interesting challenges await us in various fields and competitions ahead. I am confident that we will emerge from these trials with our heads held high."
