Nariman Akhundzade’s transfer to the US club Columbus Crew has made Azerbaijani football history.

Offsideplus.az reports that he has become the most expensive player ever sold from the Azerbaijan Premier League.

According to the Transfermarkt portal, his move to the MLS club cost 2.5 million euros.

However, it is reported that this figure is actually lower. Columbus Crew paid 1.25 million euros to Qarabag for the 21-year-old forward.

The Agdam representative will also receive a certain percentage from his future sale.

Before Nariman, the most expensive local player transferred from the Azerbaijani championship was Shahruddin Mahammadaliyev. In 2023, he moved from Qarabag to Turkiye’s Adana Demirspor for 900,000 euros.
