According to Offsideplus.az, he made a statement to the AFFA press service:

"We were familiar with all our potential opponents and had watched their games. Our main goal is to return to League C. Friendly matches are coming up. In those games, we will have the opportunity to observe the players and determine the squad. I believe we will return to League C."

Notably, the Azerbaijan national team will face Lithuania and Liechtenstein in Group 2 of League D. The new season of the Nations League will kick off in September 2026.
