Russian middleweight Sharabutdin “Shara Bullet” Magomedov is set to face Brazil’s Michel Pereira in the co-main event of UFC FIGHT NIGHT: FIZIEV vs. TORRES, taking place on June 27 at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.
Known as The Pirate, Magomedov shared his excitement for the upcoming bout and called on fans to fill the arena.
“I am ready for this fight, and by June 27, I will be in peak condition,” Magomedov said. “Nothing will stop me from putting on a spectacular performance in Azerbaijan. I feel right at home here. I know the people of Azerbaijan and across the Caucasus will be in my corner. I am the Pirate of the Caspian, and I invite everyone who supports me to pack the arena. Together, we’ll secure this win.”
Reflecting on his journey to this event, Magomedov added: “When I heard last year that the UFC was coming to Azerbaijan, I was at a training camp in Dagestan. I immediately called my manager and asked him to get me a spot on the Baku card. Baku is very close to home for me. It didn’t work out back then, but I’m thrilled that it’s finally happening now.”
Magomedov expects a high-level event: “I’m certain this event will be even bigger and more exciting than expected, especially since Azerbaijan has gained so much experience hosting major international events. I’m looking forward to an amazing fight card. Most of the athletes competing here are strikers, and with Rafael Fiziev headlining the event, the fans are guaranteed a real show.”
Regarding his tactical approach, the "Pirate" noted: “I expect incredible support at the National Gymnastics Arena on June 27. Because of that energy, I have to stay calm and not rush in recklessly. I need to fight smart while still putting on a show for the crowd.”
He remains focused on a dominant finish: “I always hunt for the finish, and this fight will be no different. My goal is for my opponent to be unable to stand when the winner is announced.”
Magomedov also highlighted his deep ties to the local fighting scene. “I’ve trained with Azerbaijani fighters for a long time; we often worked together in Thailand and we continue to support one another. Alovsat Mamiyev is a close friend of mine—we started our MMA journeys together. I have many connections with Azerbaijanis through this sport, and that is the beauty of it: sport brings people together.”
