Azer Memmedov, head coach of Kəpəz, competing in the Azerbaijan Premier League, made statements at a press conference regarding the team's recent match and overall performance. The specialist noted that they achieved an important victory against a tough opponent.
The head coach reflected on the challenging nature of the match against a team that had won its last two games, but highlighted that with the support of the players and fans, they managed to achieve the desired result. Azer Memmedov stated:
"We were indeed playing against a team that had won its last two matches. And we thought, we thought it would be tough for us."
He emphasised the team's development from game to game, adding:
"It is noticeable that our team is improving with each match."
Clarifying the team's recent play without a central forward, the head coach attributed this to key players being injured. He mentioned that Kalunqa and Namiq Alaskerov were being rested due to injuries, stating that their health is very important for the team. Reminding that Kalunqa has just returned from injury, the head coach said:
"The reason we played without forwards in both of these matches is that Kalunqa was injured... I thought that there would be a time when he would be ready to help us on the pitch, so we should give him enough time."
Despite being forced to play without a striker, the head coach pointed out that scoring three goals in two matches is a significant achievement for the players:
"I just wanted to say that it is the result of the hard work they put in during training, and I have given them comfort, I have instilled confidence and belief in themselves."
The head coach, who received his first yellow card, also spoke about the emotional moments he experienced during the match:
"You know, I received a yellow card, and I regret getting it because I think that when I played football, I rarely received yellow cards, but this was my first as a coach."
