Turan Tovuz will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding their exclusion from competitions held under the UEFA banner.
Offsideplus.az reports that this was announced in an official statement released by the western region representative.
The club's statement reads as follows:
"By adhering to all sporting principles during the 2025/2026 season, we finished the championship in 3rd place and earned the right to compete in the Conference League, which we rightfully deserved. However, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body conducted an investigation into our club's compliance with licensing criteria. Basing its decision on the AFFA Disciplinary Committee's ruling dated December 13, 2019, the body excluded our club from UEFA sporting competitions for the 2026/2027 season on June 2, 2026.
As a reminder, the aforementioned ruling by the AFFA Disciplinary Committee banned 7 footballers from our team, which was competing in the First Division during the 2019/2020 season, from all football-related activities due to match-fixing.
We would like to state that in order to overturn UEFA's decision, preserve all sporting principles, and ensure our participation in the Conference League—for which we qualified—all necessary legal steps will be taken starting today, and an official appeal will be submitted to CAS.
Additionally, we emphasize that there are no changes to our preparation plans for the Conference League. The squad members will gather this month and head to Turkey for a training camp."
