Neftchi Professional Football Club has made a significant decision to immortalize the memory of the unforgettable player, Anatoli Banishevski.

According to Offsideplus.az, the club has decided that starting from the 2026/27 season, the team's number 9 jersey will be officially retired and dedicated to Banishevski.

Banishevski wore the number 9 jersey for Neftchi with honor and loyalty for 16 years. Under this number, he scored countless decisive goals, elevating the reputation of both the club and Azerbaijani football.

The club stated that this decision is an expression of deep respect for the legendary footballer who made immense contributions to Azerbaijani football and holds a special place in the club's 89-year history.

The number 9 jersey is being officially immortalized in memory of Anatoli Banishevski, marking the 80th anniversary of his birth on February 23.
