"It is always pleasant to secure a victory," said Turan Tovuz captain Shahriyar Aliyev in a statement to Offsideplus.az.

Reflecting on their 1-0 win against Kapaz in the first leg of the Azerbaijan Cup quarterfinals, Aliyev remarked: "We won the first game of the cup, but we still have the return leg ahead of us. In that sense, we can say the chances are still equal. Such victories provide great motivation to better prepare for league matches."

He emphasized that the rivalry with Kapaz transcends league standings: "Our match against Kapaz doesn't depend on our current position in the table; this encounter is vital for both teams. It was challenging to prepare for this match following a grueling game against Qarabag. Our primary objective was to win while keeping a clean sheet, and thankfully, we achieved that. The second leg will be even tougher since it’s an away game."

Aliyev also noted the demanding schedule ahead for the Tovuz side: "The schedule is very intense. We will strive to collect points in the league while also advancing as far as possible in the cup. We have a difficult match against Karvan-Yevlakh on the 9th. Our opponent has dropped points in the second half of the season, so they will be looking to deliver one of their best performances to escape the bottom of the table. We intend to prepare thoroughly and achieve a maximum result."

Currently, Turan Tovuz sits in third place in the league standings with 30 points.
