Neftchi Football Club has reached a major milestone by scoring their 1600th goal in the history of the Azerbaijan championships.

According to Offsideplus.az, the historic goal was recorded during yesterday’s away match against Sumgayit in Matchday 32 of the Misli Premier League.

The milestone goal was scored by Ukrainian forward Andrey Shtohryn, who netted the equalizer to secure a 2-2 draw and save his team from defeat.

Neftchi reached 1600 goals in 957 matches, which means the club has an average scoring rate of 1.67 goals per game. Of these goals, 923 were scored at home, 657 away, and 20 at neutral venues.

Neftchi has now become the second team in the league’s history to surpass 1600 goals. The only other team to have achieved this is Qarabag, with 1606 goals to date.

It’s worth noting that Neftchi's first goal in the national league was scored on May 8, 1992, by Yunis Huseynov in a match against Khazar Sumgayit.
