The European Women's Individual Chess Championship continues in Batumi, Georgia.
Offsideplus.az reports that Azerbaijan is represented by 11 chess players at the EURO: Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Gunay Mammadzada, Govhar Beydullayeva, Gulnar Mammadova, Turkan Mamedyarova, Sabina Ibrahimova, Narmin Abdinova, Lala Huseynova, Zeinab Mamedyarova, Maryam Aghaverdiyeva, and Melek Ismayil.
The matches of the 5th round took place today. Fataliyeva secured a victory, while Beydullayeva, Ismayil, and Mammadova played to a draw. All other Azerbaijani players suffered defeats.
Currently, Fataliyeva holds the best result among the Azerbaijani chess players, sitting in 6th place with 4 points.
In total, 166 chess players are competing in the 11-round Swiss-system tournament. The EURO will conclude on June 5.
As a reminder, Fataliyeva is the reigning champion of the same competition held in 2024.
