The 2026/27 season of the Women's Super League has been launched.

Siyasat Asgarov, head coach of the Azerbaijan national team and Neftchi, shared his thoughts on the launch with Offsideplus.az:

"After several seasons, the special presentation of the launch is a difference and a novelty. The AFFA and the Women's Football Department are doing everything they can for the development of women's football. The championship will again feature 12 teams competing. The changes in the regulations will also positively impact development, making the championship more interesting. Some clubs have attracted foreign players, and our footballers playing abroad have also been transferred to clubs in Baku. This will lead to an increase in the level of the tournament. Therefore, we are very pleased and believe that we will continue to develop year by year. It is also encouraging that Imishli will compete in the Super League. I have always wanted all clubs participating in the Premier League to have women's teams."
