"I dedicate my victory to my personal coach Taleh Mammadov and my family."
These were the words of Elmir Carkezov, a Greco-Roman wrestler competing in the 60 kg weight category, in an interview with Offsideplus.az.
He evaluated his performance at the U-17 World Championship held in Baku:
"I was expecting a bronze medal for myself. We had prepared well for the competition. We had been working hard for six months for this championship. Thank God we were able to win a medal.
The competition went well for me. My toughest match was in the semi-finals against my Iranian opponent. I was leading at first, but then I fell behind. I didn't have enough endurance to fight for the gold medal."
It is noteworthy that Elmir Carkezov won a bronze medal by defeating Japan's Hinata Hanamori in the match for third place.
