Kurban Berdyev, head coach of “Turan Tovuz”, has received a harsh punishment from AFFA following an incident in the 30th round of the Misli Premier League.

According to Offsideplus.az, the experienced coach was shown a red card (after two consecutive yellow cards) in the 19th minute of the match against “Sabah” on April 12. Following his dismissal, Berdyev reportedly used insulting language toward the match officials.

The AFFA Disciplinary Committee has handed Berdyev a five-match suspension, with three of those games suspended on probation for three months. In addition, “Turan Tovuz” has been fined 4000 AZN.

The committee also issued further fines totaling 1800 AZN for two other infractions. “Turan Tovuz” fans were fined 1000 AZN for collectively shouting abusive language at the referees – the fifth such offense this season. Additionally, the club was fined 800 AZN after fans threw foreign objects onto the pitch.

“Sabah” was also sanctioned in relation to the same match. Forward Pavol Šafranko received a red card in the 45+2nd minute and will miss the next match. The Baku-based club was fined 500 AZN.
