"Table tennis competitions at the III CIS Games will be held in two age categories: athletes born in 2008 and 2011 will compete."
Offsideplus.az reports that the national team's coach Ramil Jafarov made this statement on the official website of the competition.
The expert shared his thoughts on the tournament:
“The team that will participate in the III CIS Games was formed about six months ago, and since then the athletes have been training in a planned manner. The Azerbaijan Table Tennis Federation has provided us with all the necessary conditions. In August, our training camp was organized in China. We also plan to participate in an international tournament as part of the preparation phase. The team will be fully prepared for the III CIS Games.
Athletes born in 2008 and 2011 will participate in the competitions. Despite their age, Azerbaijani tennis players are already speaking their minds. In the recent national championship among adults, our young athlete Onur Guluzadeh became the champion, and Adil Ahmadzadeh took third place. Among girls, Marziyya Nurbatova won the champion title. All three athletes will participate in the CIS Games. This shows that they are already seriously competing with adults and even surpassing them.
We do not know all the future competitors, but we have seen most of them in international tournaments. We know what they are capable of and we believe that our athletes will be no worse than them. "We are not far behind. Our expectations are high - at least to qualify for the final. We will fight for medals in every age category," he said.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan will host the III CIS Games from September 28 to October 8.
