The U-23 World Championship in freestyle wrestling has commenced in Las Vegas, USA, featuring five weight categories.

According to Offsideplus.az, members of the national team Ceyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg) and Ağanəzər Novruzov (74 kg) were eliminated in their opening matches.

Səbuhi Əmiraslanov (86 kg) and Anar Cəfərli (92 kg), who also started with defeats, have qualified for the consolation matches due to their opponents reaching the finals. Əmiraslanov will face Tornike Samkharadze (Georgia), while Cəfərli will go up against Mushegh Mkrtchyan (Armenia).

Xetaq Karsanov (125 kg), who advanced confidently to the semifinals, lost to Iranian Abolfazl Nejad (0:5) just one step away from the final. Our wrestler will compete for the bronze medal tomorrow.
