The Azerbaijan U-17 Greco-Roman national team made its mark with 6 medals at the European Championships held in Samokov, Bulgaria. Gold medalist Ali Javadli (45 kg) shared his impressions regarding the continental tournament.
Offsideplus.az presents the thoughts of the young wrestler:
"I am very happy to be the champion. The competition was a success for me. In the opening round, I defeated my Bulgarian opponent with an 8-0 score. Following that, I eliminated representatives from Armenia in the quarterfinals and Georgia in the semifinals. In the final against the Russian wrestler, I prioritized an attacking tactic. Taking the initiative from the start, I secured a 9-1 victory with points gathered in the parterre position."
Stating that he dedicated his victory to his father and his personal coach, Shamkhal Agamaliyev, Ali also spoke about his future plans:
"Now, my main goal is to repeat this success at the World Championships to be held in Baku and stand on the highest step of the podium."
