Azerbaijani wrestlers finished the European Championships held in Tirana, Albania, with a total of 13 medals.

Offsideplus.az reports that the winners of the final five weight classes in freestyle wrestling were determined on the last day of the competition.

Ali Tsokayev (92 kg) defeated Ahmed Batayev (Bulgaria), and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) overcame Vladislav Baytsayev (Hungary) in their respective finals to become European champions. Nuraddin Novruzov (61 kg) lost his bronze medal match against Simone Piroddu (Italy).

Turan Bayramov (74 kg) secured a silver medal after losing the final to Taymuraz Salmazanov (Slovakia), as did Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg), who fell to Ibrahim Kadiyev (UWW) in the gold medal bout.

It should be noted that earlier in the competition, Greco-Roman wrestlers Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg) and Gurban Gurbanov (82 kg) were crowned European champions. Rashad Mammadov (55 kg), Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), and Islam Abbasov (87 kg) earned bronze medals. The Greco-Roman national team finished first in the overall team standings.

Among the female wrestlers, Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) and Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) claimed bronze medals.

In the freestyle discipline, Islam Bazarganov (57 kg) won gold, while Jabrayil Gadjiyev (79 kg) took home a bronze medal.
