The 46th World Chess Olympiad is underway in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, as the teams prepare for the sixth round of matches.

According to Offsideplus.az, the Azerbaijani men's team will face Argentina, while the women's team will take on Kazakhstan.

In the fifth round, the men's team drew 2:2 with Romania. Rauf Mammadov secured a victory, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov lost his match, while Aydin Suleymanli and Mahammad Muradli played out draws.

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani women's team defeated Serbia 3:1. Gunay Mammadzada and Khanim Balajayeva won their games, while Ulviyya Fataliyeva and Govhar Beydullayeva split the points.

After five rounds, the men's team sits 11th with 8 points, while the women's team holds 4th place with 10 points.

The 11-round Swiss-system Chess Olympiad will conclude on September 27.
