Columbus Crew, the MLS side that recently signed Azerbaijani footballer Nariman Akhundzade, has bolstered its squad with a new high-profile addition.

According to Offsideplus.az, the US-based club has officially completed the transfer of former Portuguese international André Gomes. The renowned midfielder has committed to a contract running through June 2027.

A product of the Benfica youth academy, Gomes enjoyed significant success in Portugal, clinching the league title, the Portuguese Cup, and the League Cup. Notably, the midfielder also featured for FC Barcelona between 2016 and 2018.

An experienced campaigner with 29 caps for the Portugal national team, Gomes was also a key member of the squad that secured the Euro 2016 title.
