Aykhan Abbasov attended a press conference after the match "Shamakhi" - "Araz-Nakhchivan" (1:1) in the VI round of the Misli Premier League.

Offsideplus.az reports that the 44-year-old specialist answered journalists' questions and spoke about the offer he received from AFFA to coach the Azerbaijani national team.

"Yes, it was offered. Negotiations have taken place. A decision will probably be made in the near future. There is no talk of a deadline here, negotiations are taking place professionally. The main issues are some. It is normal to write versions. There will be further discussions around this. There is no problem with the deadline in our talks with AFFA.

A. Abbasov answered the question "Will you be the head coach in the match with France?" as follows:

"Good, I hope. It is difficult not to help the national team. If there is trust in us, we cannot step aside. There are minor issues. If these are resolved, I will accept the offer".

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will face France on October 10 and Ukraine on October 13 as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.
