“The most dynamic match of the round was Sumgait vs. Gabala”.
Former coach of the Azerbaijan national team, Arif Asadov, shared these views in a statement to Offsideplus.az.
The specialist commented on the matches held during the XXI round of the Misli Premier League:
Turan Tovuz 2–0 Zira
"The match was very interesting. The teams were both close in the standings and fighting for the European competition zone. This encounter could be described as a 'six-pointer.' We witnessed two different halves. In the first half, Turan Tovuz displayed excellent football, keeping the opponent under pressure and scoring two goals. In the second half, Zira took control following Rashad Sadygov’s substitutions. However, Turan Tovuz is a disciplined side, and making a comeback against them is difficult. Consequently, the Tovuz representative secured a vital three points and strengthened their position."
Karvan Yevlakh 0–2 Araz-Nakhchivan
"In this match, we saw two teams fighting for completely different goals. Karvan is trying to collect points to stay in the Premier League, while Araz-Nakhchivan aims to qualify for Europe. You can sense Karvan Yevlakh’s general style and see the coach’s work. However, the low quality of the players prevents them from achieving the desired results. The team started this game well and created scoring opportunities but failed to convert them. Araz-Nakhchivan, on the other hand, won thanks to more experienced and higher-quality players. It can be said that Karvan’s situation has become even more difficult. Most likely, the team will leave the Premier League at the end of the season."
Imishli 1–1 Shamakhi
According to the specialist, this match was also rich with interesting moments: "Two evenly matched teams faced off. Both sides have disciplined players who love a challenge and follow their coaches' instructions. The match was mainly played in the center of the pitch. Considering the condition of the field, it was hard to expect high-quality football. In the end, a draw was a fair result, and both teams earned a point."
Sabah 1–0 Kapaz
"Sabah continues its winning streak. The team now has a settled style and plays dominant football. Opponents prefer to play more compactly against Sabah. Kapaz also built their game on counter-attacks. A goal scored toward the end of the second half decided the fate of the match. Sabah held the advantage and earned a well-deserved three points."
Sumgayit 0–0 Gabala
"We watched a fascinating struggle in this game as well. This encounter was the most dynamic and fast-paced match of the round. Both teams preferred open football. Gabala started the second half of the season very well and had a certain advantage in this match. However, they couldn't capitalize on their scoring chances, even missing a penalty. As a result, the teams shared the points. While this result is considered a loss of points for Sumgayit, Gabala moved a bit further away from the danger zone."
It should be noted that the Neftchi – Qarabagh match of this round has been postponed.
